Apogee

Welcome to Apogee, a satisfying space-mining adventure!

You are a prospector on the frontier of space. Your mission is to pilot your ship into a dense asteroid field, gather valuable resources, and upgrade your ship to become the ultimate miner.

When you run out of fuel or oxygen, you are instantly teleported back to base, ready to spend your haul and begin the next, more powerful run. It's a seamless cycle of mining and upgrading, designed to create a fast-paced, compelling gameplay loop.

This game was made in four days for the GMTK Game Jam 2025. The theme was "Loop!"

Gameplay

The core of Apogee is a satisfyingly quick gameplay loop:

1. Fly Out: Launch from your home base into a new, procedurally generated asteroid field.
2. Mine: Fire mining laser at asteroids to break them apart and collect the valuable resources within.
3. Survive: Your run continues until your fuel and oxygen are depleted.
4. Warp Home: When your resources run out or you hit the space bar, you are instantly teleported back to the safety of your home base to secure what you collected.
5. Upgrade: Spend your haul on permanent upgrades that will make you stronger, faster, and able to survive longer on your next run.
